"On The Front Lines" Virtual Art Exhibition

In recent months, a new term has entered every American household: “essential worker.”

These are the brave people we are counting on right now to see us through a global pandemic. They are front-line workers in all industries keeping our world running and our bellies full. Despite their important work, here in Western New York, 13 percent of our people continue to be food insecure, meaning they don’t have adequate access to nutritious food. This includes 20 percent of our area’s children. With the coronavirus pandemic eliminating so many jobs, that number is expected to grow exponentially in the months to come. Many of these families are relying on food banks for their next meals. With the increased demand, food banks across the region fear they may not be able to meet every need. Here at Buffalo's Own, Inc., we wanted to be a part of the solution to this massive problem.

Buffalo's Own is a nonprofit organization that provides emerging artists with opportunities to grow creatively and expand into larger art markets. We put our creative minds together to come up with a unique way to support hungry people in our area: We are organizing a fundraiser to feed families who are dealing with food insecurity during this time while highlighting the stories of our essential workers, who are risking their lives in the line of duty. The exhibit, titled “On the Front Lines,” will illuminate the experiences of 15 essential workers from various industries.

Through an interactive, multimedia exhibit, guests will be able to click on the artwork to hear audio recordings of the workers’ experiences on the front lines. This event is a donation based on what you wish to spend. For more information, please email us at BuffalosOwn716@Gmail.com
