"Buffalo's Own" Brings Artists From Around the World Together Virtually

For some, working from home has been a challenge, but for others, it's been a blessing in disguise. "It's given me the opportunity to write, create, do some things that I wouldn't have been able to do if we were working and if we were out and about. If we weren't on lockdown," said Lisa Brown, Buffalo's Own co-owner. "I saw this more as an opportunity than an actual limitation," added Jalen Law, Buffalo's Own co-owner.
Buffalo's Own is an organization which gives up-and-coming artists opportunities to progress by partnering with businesses and galleries. They say their work has actually flourished during the coronavirus pandemic.
"You have to think of ways that you can get your artwork or your photography out to people so that they can view it," said Brown.
During the shutdown, Law taught himself how to create virtual galleries. "In order to bring more of a connection to not only for artists within the local area, but also bring together artists from across the world," said Law.
Now, Buffalo's Own is curating virtual exhibits. Law explains that art submissions have included those from Buffalo, India, and Africa. One of the goals is to bring people together during a trying time. "It's helping not only our organization, but other surrounding organizations to understand the power of what technology is when it comes in the realm of art," said Law.
Even after the shutdown, Buffalo's Own plans to continue the online medium.
If you're interested in viewing the galleries, instructions are on the organization's Facebook page.
