Sharing Our View: Artists' Legacy Roundtable Discussion

The exhibition Sharing Our View: 25th Anniversary celebrates Buffalo’s rich, intergenerational history of black artists who have cultivated a longstanding legacy of connection, community, and collaboration through their artistic practices. Inspired by a 1998 exhibition at the Center guest curated by Buffalo artist, educator, and curator John Baker, the exhibition features historic artists from the original show alongside contemporary artists who stand upon their shoulders. Central to both the 1998 exhibition as well as the 25th-anniversary celebration is an intention to bring the work, lives, and influence of these artists directly into the community to inspire new audiences. Recognizing this intention and in conjunction with the exhibition, the featured artists participated in a recorded roundtable discussion where they engaged in a reflective conversation about their experiences.

My vision was to create a comprehensive blueprint that empowers both the current and future generations of artists to achieve remarkable success in the art world, both locally and internationally. For the next generation, my intention is to provide you with the tools and knowledge that will enable you to carve your own path to success, fostering a positive impact on your life and becoming a source of inspiration for aspiring artists who look up to you. Together, let's build a thriving artistic community that propels the next wave of creativity and artistic achievement.
